Gabriella Curiel was an Italian designer whose line was picked up in the 1960s by Bergdorf Goodman's. Her daughter continues a demi-couture and haute couture business and modern day pieces are priced in the 4- 6 figures! This is a rare, original piece from the 1960s and was a special order. My client had this piece made for her and wore it to several NYC events in the sixties! The gown is extraordinary. A heavy raw silk in a feminine pink, has been hand dyed to that extraordinary color. A design is appliqued in fine silk braiding and each bit of that design is edged in hand applied sequins and beading - all extremely fine and well done. It is a simple sheath that nips in slightly at the waist by the side seaming and with high slits on either leg. It is cut with a slight Asian flair to it that has that wonderful, jet set 1960s bohemian feel to it - a society girl that was well traveled and with the confidence to wear color! A really wonderful piece and a rarity to find! Excellent condition.
