The February 1948 edition of the SPORT magazine features Boston Bruins goaltender Frank Brimsek on the cover. Considered one of the greatest American-born goalies of all-time, Brimsek was an 8-time All-Star, two-time Vezina Trophy winner, the 1938-39 Calder Trophy winner as Rookie of the Year and won a pair of Stanley Cups with the Bruins. He was the first American-born goaltender to be named to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
SPORT Magazine, which ran from 1946 to 2000, celebrated what its editors accurately anticipated would be the coming explosion of interest in professional and amateur sport in post-war North America. Read more about the history of SPORT magazine here. (
